PEACOC featured as European Success Story in 2024
The PEACOC project has been recognised by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency [HaDEA] as a European Success Story in 2024, underlining its significant contributions to ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials that underpin European industry’s transition to a low-carbon, digital future.
Launched in May 2021, PEACOC aims to demonstrate the capacity to recover PMs at a pre-commercial scale (TRL 7) from three different waste streams: autocatalysts, printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), and photovoltaic panels (PV). The project employs a simplified process flowsheet that includes collection, pre-treatment and concentration, and refining stages. By adopting a ‘zero-waste’ approach, PEACOC ensures that the recycled metals are further tested and used across various applications, from new catalysts and catalytic nanoparticles for electrochemical energy technologies to 3D-printed products and single metals.
